B33. The Horse Head Nebula
Dark nebula in Orion

This nebula can be observed as a dark cloud of dust and gas that blocks the light that comes from behind, from the IC434 nebula. The horse head is the most prominent part of a diffuse nebula region that belongs to the great cloud of dust and gas of Orion.  At the bottom left of these images the Flame nebula, NGC2024, can be appreciated.
Distance to Earth: 1.600 light years.
