Globular cluster in Ophiuchus

This globular cluster was discovered by Charles Messier in 1764, although it was William Herschel who first resolved it as a star cluster in 1783. It is located in Serpens.

Distance to Earth:  16 light years
Visual magnitude: 6,7.
